Why We Started This

Kitchen Kit specialises in countertop appliances and kitchen gadgets — the things that plug in, sit on a worktop, or solve a specific prep task. That’s a deliberately narrow niche, and it lets us go deeper on the categories we cover than a broader kitchen site could.

what makes us different

Why We Built Kitchen Kit

How we test

Every product is tested in the same UK kitchen, on the same 13A socket, against the same standardised tests for its category. That consistency is the point — it’s the only way to give you a meaningful comparison between, say, a £55 Tower air fryer and a £230 Sage.

  • Minimum testing time: 3 weeks of daily use before scoring.
  • Standardised tests per category (e.g. 500g chip test, 2-thigh chicken test, decibel measurement, energy use per cook).
  • Original photography on every product — no Amazon stock images.
  • UK pricing checked weekly across Amazon UK, Argos, John Lewis, Currys, and Lakeland.
  • Long-term picks (the products that make the verdict box) are used for at least 6 months before final scoring.
  • Failures are reported. Where a product was returned within the test window, we say so and explain why.

How we make money

Kitchen Kit is funded by Amazon Associates UK affiliate commission. When you click a ‘Buy on Amazon UK’ link on this site and go on to make a purchase (any purchase, not just the linked product), Amazon pays us a small commission at no extra cost to you. That’s how the lights stay on.

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. This affiliate relationship has zero influence over which products we recommend, the order we rank them in, or what we say about them. The cheapest pick in a round-up earns us less than the priciest, and we still rank them on merit.

Things we do not do:

  • Accept free or gifted products from manufacturers in exchange for reviews. Every appliance reviewed on this site is bought at retail.
  • Publish sponsored posts disguised as reviews. If we ever publish sponsored content (we don’t currently), it will be clearly labelled as such.
  • Swap backlinks or join review-aggregation networks that compromise editorial independence.

Editorial standards

  • If a product is bad, we say so. Negative reviews exist on this site.
  • Comparisons follow consistent methodology, not a narrative.
  • Reviews are dated. Updates are visible. Stale rankings get refreshed.
  • Corrections: if we’ve got something wrong, please tell us. Anything material gets a correction note appended to the post.
  • Author byline on every post — there’s a real person standing behind every recommendation.
